What does “price as tested” mean on a car?

Chances are you’ve seen in a car magazine that the car and the driver or perhaps Motor Trend. I saw on TV when they review the car too. I know it’s probably self explanatory, but what and why the cost as further evidence recommended by the manufacturer? I curious.

It means that the price is for the vehicle they are actually showing, with addition options. A base model, without those options would be less.

A good example, is performance cars that have different engines available, or different seats, suspension, etc.

Like you said, pretty self explanatory.

How much you would “expect” to pay if you bought the exact same car as opposed to one with a different motor, options etc.
